It has become more and more clear and strikingly obvious through all the newest archeological findings, that the wisdom and insights of the ancient Egyptians did not originate solely with them only (i.e., according to the commonly believed interpretation of history, around 2500 BCE), but has far older sources, - and even far more enlightened ones! Before my recent trip to Egypt with a group of spiritual seekers, I was guided to study the books of Graham Hancock where he gives very clear indicates for antedeluvian cultures (i.e. cultures that existed before the great flood, before 9600-10800 BC) to have brought their wisdom to the Egyptians and many other cultures after the cataclysm.

Many other researchers say the same - resources that give us one convincing answer to thedy to entrust themselves energetically to us again as we need it for this moment in history.

When we arrived early in the morning at 5 a.m. and entered through the long, steep pathways that crossed the substance of the pyramid, which could often be identified as rock rather than the result of human construction, I became increasingly awestruck by the realization that I was touching rocks that had been here before the flood (while everything about culture and civilization that my lineage is knowingly aware of dates after the flood!).

Upon entering the mysterious King's Chamber of the Giza Pyramid, I was speechless. It wasn't the enigmatic questions about how such immense blocks of stone could be cut and moved, how the knowledge of the literally ego-dissolving effect of the echoing sound patterns could be created through architecture, or the many other questions that can be read about elsewhere. It was the energetic presence itself. No words could be said here. Holy.

In other halls used by the Egyptian Mystery Schools from later periods I had been impressed by the writings decorating all the walls, which prepared the initiates for their death-rebirth experience in the sarcophagus. But here: Nothing! Silence. No explanation needed. No Symbols, parables, stories to explain. Pure being. Pure energy.

As a group, we spontaneously started to sound and it was like the hall itself dictated the sounds including all the overtones. At the same time we used the techniques we had learned from the shaman leading us into the experience to merge energetically with this vortex. Little by little, time dissolved.

I realized how I sunk deeper and deeper, coming from 2025, going back the way of history, 1900 industrial revolution…, 1780 epoch of enlightenment, French revolution, 1600 Renaissance, 1400 Middle ages, deeper and deeper, 800 Charles the great, Migration Period, deeper and deeper, Roman empire, Greek cultures, 600 BC when Solon learned in Egypt about messengers who brought knowledge from an ancient world and transmitted this information to Plato who reported the story of what he gave the name “Atlantis”…, deeper again, 1200 BC Moses, then First Egyptian Dynasties, we count now 2500 BC, deeper - 5000 BC Sumer cultures who reported about a world before the flood, 9600 *FLOOD* and it went deeper into the unknown for my cognitive mind but I could continue to connect deeper energetically till an unknown place something around 20,000 BC.

Tears of Awe. Silence. Struck by overwhelm of a reality that is greater than I am able to perceive. All became relative that we count as so much our reality. I had zoomed out and now saw the immensely large context of millennia that wanted to reveal themselves to me. I connected energetically to sources of wisdom and knowledge I didn’t even know existed. These very same square meters were my feet were standing now were the exact spot where initiates all throughout those millennia had got to know the relativity of human life, connected to larger dimensions and received orientation for there earthly existence. And a lot of knowledge! Knowledge that we are fare to have reached in spite of all our scientific past few centuries!

Slowly coming back and eventually able to stand up, I moved towards the so-called Sarcophagus. It is not a place to bury a human. This large black block of granite, big enough for a person to lie inside, was like an energy transmitter. Ancient initiates would lie inside it for a whole night. Our shaman led me to lie down. It took only seconds until I started twitching all over. It was like a huge battery charger for cosmic energy.

When after spending 2 hours in this sacred place we returned through the pathways, we crossed some security personnel - and they looked at us like angels. Had we radiated something of what we had experienced? Ten minutes later, we saw daylight. The sun had just risen.

But we came out as new beings, the pyramid or whatever was the womb inside had given a new birth to us - back to time.

We were there to find out what this task in this time of incarnation was about for us now. And it became even clearer for me: I know why I am here. I know why I have this blog. I know why I never stop talking about these realities. And why my believe is so firmly grounded: that modern-time mystery schools, based on all their ancient predecessors, will play an essential role in our development in the years ahead.

Human life before realization of our home beyond

When we incarnate, get an embryo, and eventually are born as a human and begin our journey as a human being through time, we fall out of our original existential Oneness with all that is, with God, with the Cosmos. We enter the world of form, the world of duality. We start to discover who we are - first of all in the 3D world.

Lately I heard the touching report of a moment where a video surveillance camera has captured two little children, the older one of which who already could speak begging the baby: Can you remind me of what was there, I am starting to forget!

Finding ourselves as Humans on the earth, we get familiar with this world of form and all its conditions and learn to know ourselves in this environment of limitation. But the same way how we opened our eyes at birth, we closed our eyes to the greater dimensions we were at home in, before entering into space and time.

… you find more of what I shared about this and the way how we still find traces of our memory in the longing we feel and in glimpses of reconnecting experiences (nature, sex, meditation, psychedelic experiences…). Some people through those modalities and/or through pain and suffering get hungry to explore the beyond. And not only on the personal level but as a species we enter more and more unsolvable problems in order to finally comprehend that we are to connect those two poles: “earth” and what we may call “heaven”. For this, however, it is not sufficient to be at home in our earthly existence but we have to be connected and familiar just as much with what is beyond these limited dimensions of space and time in oder to truly step into our role that we were designed for as humans.

The Process of Reconnecting

Man is designed as a being that connects earth (form, matter, the space-time continuum) with consciousness (which is timeless). We see it in our physical stature, standing with our feet on the earth and stretching out to heaven. We see it in each breath where we inhale into density and exhale toward dissolution. As long as we stay in the isolation of our 3D human experience we cannot fulfill what we are meant to as Humans. But how can we connect and then live in a connected way with the wider dimensions as humans?

The door to this beyond in the mystery schools is death. In death, the limitations of time and space dissolve, and ultimately through our physical death we will transition back to our original total Oneness with All that is. But what I’m speaking about here in the context of the Mystery Schools, is not the physical death yet. I’m speaking about a death that allows us to realize that these limitations are an illusion, while going through the experience without ending our earthly life yet, so that we can continue this life enriched with the insight and experience that this “preliminary” death has brought us.

To discern the difference to the ultimate physical death the term “conceptual death” has been introduced. But it is not just in our head, as the term “conceptual” may suggest - no, it's real, experimented death. The dissolving of all that has to do with our human existence: time, space, separation from the other parts of being, other individuals etc. The only thing that still anchors us in an alive body in which we are making this experience (or at least into which we are going to return after it) is our ongoing breath. So breath awareness is a great anchor to trust the process of going into death. Some of these experience may no longer allow the awareness of breath but it beautifully continues.

Ways to experience “Death” as a living Human

Different ways to enter into death have been gone in the Mystery School traditions of the past, just known to those going into them because they are ready.

• In the Egyptian Mystery schools the initiates spent a whole night in a black granite sarcophagus at a vortex of an enormous energy field and this under the influence of Blue Lotus (not the one that we know today but a much more intensely psychoactive species).

  

• In the Greek Mystery schools the initiates drank the sacred potion Kukeon with an LSD-like effect which dissolves dimensions and eventually the sense of I-ness till the person attains entire Oneness with all that is and dissolves in their individuality.

• Similarly in the Dionysian and Christian (!) Mystery schools that were much closer to each other than we believe today. I will speak in a later post about the strong indices for the hypothesis according to which paleo Christian in the first 2-3 centuries had a deep experiential understanding of what it meant when Jesus said “He who drinks from this wine and eats from this bread will not die”. The strong psychoactive compounds in their “wine” brought them exactly towards this same edge between life and death that proved physical death to be a mere transition. They practiced this very much according to the tradition of the Dionysian mystery schools that were very common in the same geographical area of that time (stay tuned for a next post).

• Some peoples have transported this inner knowledge of the essential meaning of death experiences for life all the way into their culture, such as the reverence made in Mexico for Human sculls.

Going into death and resulting awakening is the first important step of all mystery schools (later steps will lead to the consequences of this awakening in palpable manifestation and creation, called “Integration”). It opens a beautifully freeing perspective on the world of form that shows its dimensions in the context of a much wider field of reality. This insight is the ground on which awakened initiates would then mold this world of form through the power of consciousness and manifest what is not possible in the confines of earthly realities. And speaking about today, here is a strong reason why I do envision modern mystery schools to rise and thrive and strongly contribute to the elevation of consciousness of mankind now and in the close future, as these abilities are essential - today - for the survival of the planet and our species.

Difficulty 1-5 (Spirituality): 1 - Fundamental

The Mystery Schools of Eleusis (roughly 20 km / 12 miles from Athens) gathered every year in autumn thousands of initiates, amongst which were the great figures known to have shaped Western Civilization, such as Plato, Aristotle and others. But what did they experience and why was it ground-laying for our civilization? And more importantly, how could that be a model for needed planetary shifts in our time? Cicero, the great Roman historian, wrote about these events 50 BC:

“Live happily and die with a better hope”? Although the contents of the ceremonies were strictly secret (protected by death sentence!) we know today that they “saw” together the epiphany of Persephone on earth, appearing, according to the mythological story, each year out of the realm of death (“Hades”) and connecting this earthly reality with what is beyond, “death”, dimensions that are not limited by time and space. We do not know if that happened through re-enactment of the story or through another way of revelation.

What scholars today largely agree about is the assumption that the potion ‘Kukeon’, that was ingested during these rites and was potent enough to open consciousness into a wider space of reality. It is very likely to have contained Alkaloids from the fungus Ergot that is the basis of the effect of LSD (as first proposed in “The road to Eleusis, co-authored by Albert Hoffmann, the discoverer of LSD). Under such effects, Human consciousness breaks out of the usual limitations. It gains the awareness of the interconnectedness of everything in being and sees reality as not limited to space and time but all-encompassing and therefore certainly not ending with death. In this light the Human experience appears as a transitory state (see my article), with a specific task of the journey through time.

Obviously, such a realization brought forth the effect of what Cicero calls “live happily and die with a better hope”!

And today? Hardly ever in history has such a big number of people gained access to deeper spiritual realizations through meditation, spiritual practices and guides, the psychedelic renaissance, consciousness work, the interconnection between diverse spiritual traditions etc. All those already have a powerful ability to awaken us to the realizations described before. What if Modern Mystery schools (according to the explicit wish and desire of Albert Hoffmann) would manifest again, in a way adapted to our modern time, developments, challenges and consciousness level - but similarly impactful to the whole of civilization as those in antiquity? This vision is what moved me to open the present blog and I’ll detail more about it.

A very brief and simple intro - when people for example in Ancient Greece saw that something is going wrong with the world (wars, famines…), they understood that this is going to be changed only through they themselves being transformed - transformed into oneness with the God’s (may be we would say today with the Universe). Often it was a spiritual Elite that would prepare for weeks with a Shaman or spiritual guide and then gather in the temple of the God (Archetype) the quality of whom they felt to need to merge. They entered into altered States of Consciousness, often induced by psychedelic substances.

This picture was taken after a deep energetic merging with the Mystery schools in Giza, Egypt, the oldest one’s we know of who probably date back to a time before what we all the great deluge as there are archeological proves that make us date those before. This may be a reason that they could mysteriously re-appear in so many cultures in a similar way - I’ll talk about this in a alter post.

At the same time, this is the place, where we inherited the word “orgy” from. As they were experiencing Oneness with the cosmos (vertically) they also experienced oneness with the other manifestations of human life (horizontally) - the bodies of their co-humans. Entering into physical and sexual interaction in an altered state of consciousness where no longer mind control out of ego purpose (and at times doubts) rule, but a communal surrender into the stream of life, is indeed very different from what we commonly know as “sex”.

Although of course the visible manifestation of the practice of “Mystery Schools” varied, we do have a consistent regularity in ancient high cultures of such rites with the typical characteristics:

• Long and often grueling phase of preparation of the initiates

• Absolute secrecy (often protected by death sentence)

• Deep entrance (not just insight) into the mystery behind all life

• Tremendous influence on the whole of their civilization

• Often psychedelic substances and erotic practices

Κυκεών is the name of the potion (drink) that the initiates drank in the Greek Mystery Schools in antiquity before entering an altered state of consciousness in which they were able to transcend the limitations of space and time, and experience death and rebirth. Although those rites were totally secret (protected by death sentence), the radical experiences they made therein have participated in laying the foundations of the entire modern civilization (according to Cicero, more later).

Into Form and Out

I am using the word Kykon as a synonym for the awareness that in our essence we are beyond time, beyond ephemerality, beyond the limitations of the space around us. But we have a task for which we are here, in these very limitations.

When we came from our original Oneness with all Being into form as a Human personality living in time and space, we came for a reason that is not always easy to decipher and understand. This publication wants to help, serving with what helped me myself on this journey
