DMT (Dimethyltryptamine) is a natural molecule that is exists both in various plants and is produce by the pineal gland (DE Zirbeldrüse) of many mamals (DE Säugetiere) including the Human. Is is strongly psychoactive and the effect is experienced as connecting with the spirit realm beyond the usual human limitations of time and space.
Availability: In the human the pineal gland only produces DMT under specific circumstances, namely when a women is birthing a child, in the dying process, when a person is staying for more than 8 hours in total darkness. The production can also be provoked through special breathing techniques. When taken in through (typically through inhalation or smoking) the effect lasts only approx 15 min. When combined with a so called monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI) it can last around 5 hours which is the case of Ayahuasca (the medicine of the indigenous tribes of the Amazonian) which really is a combination of DMT and an MAOI.

Entheogene is an alternative term to replace the word “psychedelic”. The word stems from Greek “en” = in, “theos” = God, “gene” = to generate: to generate God within, which refers to the ability of such substances to experience a state of oneness with all Being / God / Source.

I am using the word God not to describe anything that we can know of, that has properties we can describe etc, but as a spaceholder for the nameless mystery behind all mysteries.
My understanding is, that this mystery “approaches” us (speaking in images as it does not have any properties, even beyond the “void”) with the mask of an approachable “you”, so that we would be able as Human beings to address this mystery as an intimate “you”. This makes it possible for us to enter into a deep love relationship, love being not only one of the primary constants of this cosmos, but the main healing element for the pain resulting by living in duality / in form. The love of “God” (I’d rather write the word in quotes), is the ultimate love possible for a human being that makes it independent of anything or being and therefore able to share love with them and expand love in this world of form.

Spiritual practice in many ancient and less ancient cultures that allowed access to the mystery of all being in order to achieve a personal transformation that was meant to lead into a transformation of the world. In these practices, grueling preparations with a shaman, mystery school meeting in a temple, usage of mind altering beverages. The term “orgy” stems from the ancient Greek mystery schools.

Term coined by Stanislav Grof, replacing the more commonly term “altered states of consciousness” to avoid the negative connotation of “altered”, meaning distorted, deviating from “true” normal consciousness.

I avoid the term because on one hand side the term is unspecific and does not clearly describe any of the traits of such experiences. At the same time it has gotten a connotation that refers to unintentional usage and classification as “drug”.

Attention! This word really is used for two quite opposit meanings, which is the reason for me to try to avoid it, whenever the context is not absolutely clear or I don’t have the space to define what I mean. If you see me using it, make sure to understand the write meaning from the context:
Meaning 1: “We met on a soul level”, “Not only humans saw each other but souls who have probably met in life times before”. Here the word soul describes our karmic entity that persists over life times and goes through a development of incarnations. This meaning is NOT bound to our human character, feelings, thoughts but is beyond those. In this sense synonyms are “Higher self”, “consciousness”, “karmic being”.
Meaning 2: “God blew his breath into the clay and it became a living soul”, “This is just his soul speaking, not his higher awareness”. Here soul is specifically relating to the opposit of Meaning 1, the state of the human being with emotions and thoughts (some add the will to it additionally). Soul in this meaning is what expresses but also limits our earthly being and can be seen as opposed to consciousness (which is beyond those human expressions).

One of the key figures in the usage of non-ordinary states of consciousness in psychtherapy. One of his big merits is the redefinition of traditional psychology pointing to the fact that classically psychology was limited to biographical experiences (i.e. since birth) and omitted both peri-natal (during birth, such as birth trauma), pre-natal (influences during pregnancy) and transpersonal (such as past life experiences, ancestry, collective unconscious, archetypal influences etc). Grof used LSD intensively for psychotherapy and research and after this was forbidden invented holotropic breathwork to induce similar states of consciousness.

A molecule that is chemically slightly different from DMT and much more rare in nature. While DMT was given the nickname “Spirit Molecule” because of its potency to connect to the spirit realm, 5MeO DMT was called “God Molecule” because of its ability in many cases to transport straight into the realm of non-dual unity consciousness (Oneness with God). 5MeO-DMT is the strongest known psychedelic / entheogene substance.
An experience lasts typically 15-60 minutes. As the effect begins typically within a few seconds it needs to be facilitated by an experienced facilitator or shaman who holds space for this experience.
